Harbour Highlights brochure

During this special 20-minute tour, our experienced volunteer guide will regale you with the storied history of Australia’s first lighthouse, built in 1818.

After exploring the lower level, you will ascend 100 steps to the lantern room and, from there, access a balcony for a breathtaking panoramic view of Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean (and a selfie opportunity that will make you the envy of friends and family).

Plan Ahead

By car: Drive along Middle Head Road, Mosman and turn off at Suakin Drive or Best Avenue for parking at Georges Heights.

By bus: Sydney Buses operate buses to Georges Heights on weekdays. The 244 service, which departs from Wynyard, stops along Middle Head Road and Chowder Bay Road.

By ferry: Sydney Buses operate the 238 services, which collects passengers who arrive by ferry at Taronga Zoo’s Athol Wharf from Circular Quay. Once aboard the 238 service, alight on Middle Head Road near Beaconsfield Road and walk ten minutes to reach Georges Heights.
